A little over a year ago, I became vegetarian. Once I was vegetarian, I found that when my various boyfriends performed oral sex on me (and from what I noticed myself), it had little-to-no-taste and zero smell. This is different than it was when I ate meat (when I ate meat, it was sometimes quite salty).

Four months ago, I became vegan. Though no one has said anything to me, I have noticed that my vaginal discharge has a distinct taste and a strong, heady aroma (this does not happen unless I’m turned on and my natural lubrication is flowing. I bathe extremely regularly and it is not a problem of hygiene). It’s not necessarily a bad smell, but I miss my vegetarian days when there was no smell and no taste. I’m dating someone different than I was when I was a vegetarian, so I can’t ask if they notice a difference, and I’m too nervous to ask if it bothers him. I really don’t understand this though…I’ve read numerous times that dairy products make it more bitter. Why would eliminating them from my diet make it taste worse (or at least stronger?). Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Are there any things in my vegan diet I could be eating to cause such a thing? It’s not a fishy aroma, and it’s not an infection (I’ve gone to the doctor since I’ve noticed it) I even tried the pineapple thing for a while, but, though I found that it actually did taste slightly more like pineapple, it was not the sweetness of pineapple that was present–rather it was the acidity.

Also, I know that being vegan has done some things to make me generally smell and taste sweeter–my boyfriend has commented many times when we are making out that my kisses (my saliva, I suppose) "taste good"…and this is hours after I last brushed my teeth and when I haven’t had anything to eat yet in the day. I just don’t understand why that isn’t true of everything.

Sorry, being vegan should mean you are more ‘clean’ etc. Could be you have an infection.

Strong veggies effect scent and taste – asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower. Try increasing your water intake and even adding drops of grapefruit seed extract to the water.

I hate to say it but a funny smell of any kind is usually a warning sign saying for you to take care of it and telling people like your boyfriend to stay away for awhile.
Change in diet could be an answer, but you definitely need to get to the OB/GYN to make sure that is all it is. 9 times out of 10 however an usual odor means some type of infection.

Yeah’ I know you’re VERY uncomfortable with this. No, I’m not a woman. But been there (for everyone out there, not her) ‘Been married ‘near 18 yrs., and my wife has gone through the same thing a time or two. Not ALL the time, now, but a couple. We used to live in town, where our diet sometimes consisted of fast-food(ugh!), though we also used COMPLETE supplementation, knowing modern packaged foods do not have the nutrition they spout. Now, you’ve changed your eating habits 2-3 times lately, and if I may be so bold, you probably haven’t been getting at LEAST 73 of the 96 essential nutrients in your body. I don’t care what age you are, if you will feed your body correctly, it will repair itself in time. I shouldn’t, but I will suggest going back to a veggie lifestyle. SO many more ways to have fun! And you don’t have to spend a lot of time preparing them! Get a Vita-Mix! Spice it up for good digestion! Don’t eat a bushel basket, supplement your meals with a big, wholesome, glass of natural micro-nutrients! Now,I got scolded by the company for answering a question as honestly as I could. So please don’t get offended at the fact that EVERY woman I’ve ever been with had a distinct odor, taste, the whole nine yards! All do, unless they’re douching too often. Are you THAT active? Better give it a rest ’til you figger this one out!
